What will you need?
Fabric- I have used cotton woven, but you could also use canvas, flannelette, cotton jersey or any similar fabric you have on hand. This pattern is great for using up your scraps.
Scissors
Pins or sewing clips
Free pattern below
Optional: Fabric marker & chopstick or similar
1. Cut your pattern pieces out. Three pieces in total.
Front - main fabric x 1
Back 1 - cut x1 on fold
Back 2 - cut x1 on fold
2. With right sides of fabric together, pin all three pieces of fabric together, layering pieces exactly as shown in photo. Using a ¼ inch seam allowance sew around the outer of your egg.
3. Using scissors, cut small snips around the edge of the fabric being careful not to cut through the stitching. Alternatively, you could use pinking shears.
4. Turn Egg right side out, I like to use a chop stick to help, but you could also use the end of a pen, knitting needle or whatever you have on hand.
5. For a clean finish, press with your iron, and then fill with your favourite treats. Lollies, little toys, little stationary, the options are endless. Next time why not try a larger egg by adapting the pattern slightly. Great to pop larger gifts inside.
**PRINTING of pattern - be sure that your printer settings are set to A4 & scale is default. Printed main fabric (front) piece should be approx. 4.75 inches when cut out.
