HOW TO MAKE AN "EASTER" BUNNY EAR BOW

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

By Leah Goddard from Pretty Stitches

I love these bunny ear bows. They can be put on a hair tie, hair clip or even better and more favourite, a scrunchie. Super cute to wear all year round, they aren't just an Easter must have.

Below is how I make the "Bunny Ear Bows" that I make and sell at Pretty Stitches.

I've also included a FREE "how to" make a template so you can make your own. Easy to make on a sewing machine, you could also try hand stitching if you don't have a machine.

What you'll need

-Fabric (2x 11x3.5 inches)

-Scissors

-Marking chalk or frixion pen

-2x Pins

-Chopstick or point turner

-Template

-Pinking shears

-Iron

-Template

1. With your 2 pieces of fabric 11x3.5" place them right sides together.

2. Fold in half so short sides meet

3. Place your template down with the end of template lined up with the folded side of your fabric pieces.

4. Use your frixion pen to trace around template.

5. Stick pins into the fabric to hold in place.

6. Cut around the drawn line.

7. Open up cut pieces, make sure they are still lined up.

8. Stick a pin in each end to keep together while sewing.

9. Sew a 1/4" seam around the fabric leaving an opening along one of the straight edges.

10. Use pinking shears to cut around all the curved edges, as close to seam as possible without cutting the thread. (Note: if you don't have pinking shears use your scissors to make small cuts around the edge)

11. In the four corners, cut a wide V shape

(this all allows the fabric to lay flat and not pucker when turned right side out).

12. Turn right side out. Use chopstick or point turner to get in the points and push seam out completely. Iron while you are doing this to ensure it stays flat.

13. Sew opening closed

14. Place finished bow through hair band and tie in a knot. Move the fabric around a little to make sure the print is the right way up and bow looks neat.

You're finished!
